Language

An important part of AO’s mandate is to reduce fragmentation across the sector and convene community members in shared dialogue. One way we are doing this at the Forum is to convene and deliver the session bilingually (in English and French).

To facilitate bilingual events, we are putting the following mechanisms in place:

  • The Forum will feature presentations in both languages, with AI-supported transcription and translation. Presentation slides and summaries will also be in French and English.
  • During the facilitated participation, there will be structured spaces where French participation will be prioritized, and other spaces where bilingual participation is encouraged.

AO recognizes that often at ‘bilingual’ events, language use often steers toward English-only. It is our intention that by putting these mechanisms in place, these are spaces where participants can use either French or English.

In addition to the above, do you have other ideas or suggestions for how AO can support participation in French?
